The Flipbook of Debt

From my job responding to consumer credit card disputes I feel I may have a unique perspective on certain credit card issues that may help people in similar situations, or at least give people a good laugh. There isn't going to be any specific details about my company or particular customers, but there may be some insight to be gleaned.

In the holiday spirit...

So this week we're catching up on the work delayed during the week of Christmas, as the team that scans letters into image files was mostly off on vacation, as were most of us who work the accounts. One of the most heartwarming artifacts was a Christmas card from a customer's family. Only the inside of the open card was imaged, so I'm wondering what traditional image was on the front cover would have been that would be fitting for a credit card company. On one page there was a simple "thinking of you this Christmas", and across from it....

"Stop calling me."

Did I mention that most of the mail we get is for collections? Lots of complaints about phone calls and requests for repayment plans. Customers send it to the "Billing Error Notice" address instead of the general correspondence address where its actually worked, since they know it will be taken more seriously and have to be worked sooner at the Dispute address.

This is truly was the most polite cease and desist letter ever.
